Seeing the world is a dream of many people, and when you’ve found your significant other, you might be looking to travel with them. Research shows that traveling is actually really good for couples. In one study, a team distributed questionnaires among people in Turkey. They found that those who make travel decisions together and go on holiday as a couple have better emotional health. Plus, traveling together also leads to better couple satisfaction.

Once you’ve decided to travel together, you’ve taken an important step – but now you have to plan out a black couples trip. Choosing where you’re going is a crucial part of the planning process, and if you don’t know where to travel to, we’ve got you covered. We’ll be sharing some of the best destinations that black couples traveling together should consider.

#1. Cartagena (Colombia)

Cartagena Columbia

Every black couple is unique, and you have your preferences. But, when it comes to going back to your roots, it’s always a good idea to look at places like South America and Africa. This also brings us to our first travel destination: Cartagena, located in Colombia.

One of the first things you’ll notice when you get to Cartagena is the fact that the city is incredibly rich in black culture. There’s a lot for you and your partner to discover if you come to this destination. In fact, Cartagena is often considered an important point to stop at if you’re traveling to South America.

The city lets you enjoy views of the Caribbean and offers fun things to do no matter what time of the day (or night). If you want to visit Cartagena for its beaches, then consider going to this destination between December and April. This is considered the dry season in Cartagena, which ensures you don’t have to worry too much about rain.

#2. Aruba

Aruba

Next up – Aruba. This is actually an island that sits off the coast of South America. The great thing about Aruba is the fact that there are a lot to discover and explore on this island. There’s also something for everyone, so whether you and bae want to sit on the beach or go exploring, you have a lot of options to choose from.

There are actually quite a few beaches scattered across Aruba – so it might be a good idea to schedule a visit to at least a couple of them.

Apart from the beaches, there’s the Arikok National Park, Aruba Mural tours, the Bubali Bird Sanctuary, and a wide variety of dining experiences for you two to explore.

#3. Seychelles (Africa)

Seychelles Africa

If you and your partner rather prefer to sit on the beach with a cocktail in hand, then the Seychelles might be a great location. Located in East Africa, it’s actually the smallest country on this continent. However, Seychelles is actually made up of 155 different islands – they form an archipelago and sit a bit off Africa’s mainland.

Something to keep in mind – Seychelles is a bit more expensive if you compare it to other holiday spots. However, if you can spare a few extra bucks, then this destination can really give you that vacation feel that you might be going for.

You’ll have to pick which island you want to visit – make sure you pick one that’s fitting for your needs and perhaps look at different hotels and other accommodation options in the area. While you’re in the Seychelles, don’t forget to visit the Victoria Market.

The Bazar Labrin is also held on the Beau Vallon beach – you can find it on Wednesdays, and on the last Saturday of every month. Plus, before you leave, you have to visit the Vallee de Mai on Praslin – it’s actually an ancient forest that really lets you get in touch with nature.

#4. Montego Bay (Jamaica)

Montego bay Jamaica

Next up is Jamaica – or, to be more specific, Montego Bay. Jamaica is home to the popular term “irie” and gives you access to a very chilled atmosphere. It is, however, the beaches of Jamaica that attract a lot of tourists and vacationers.

Montego Bay actually has a lot that you can do. There are several bus tours and day trips if you and bae feel like learning a bit more about the local culture in Jamaica. And for those who consider themselves foodies, there are a couple of cultural tours that you can take as well.

Adventure-seekers will enjoy activities like horseback riding, ziplining, and hiking tours.

Finally – Costa Rica, known for some of the world’s most amazing national parks. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or both of you really enjoy outdoor adventures, Costa Rica has several locations and facilities to help you pass the time, spend time together, and reconnect.

For the more adventurous black couple, there are cave tubing activities, zip lines, canyoning, and even river rafting. Of course, some people may prefer to enjoy the luxuries of life while traveling with their partners. The JW Marriott Guanacaste Resort & Spa, for example, gives both of you that VIP experience.

When the time comes for sightseeing, consider taking advantage of the bus tours and day trips that several companies offers.  The La Fortuna Waterfall is incredibly beautiful, along with the Playa Manuel Antonio beach. And when you want to see exotic animals and wildlife, make a reservation at Proyecto Asis, a Wildlife shelter that has quite a lot to offer.
