Best Spots in the Caribbean for Black Couples

Share

From sandy beaches to some of the world’s most vibrant festivals, the Caribbean has a lot to offer. People go to these islands for so many reasons, and for a black couple, it might be the perfect romantic getaway. The Caribbean is a big place, with several spots to visit – so even though you and bae might have chosen the Caribbean for your next adventure, you still have to decide where to go.

I’ve decided to set up a list of my four top spots in the Caribbean for black couples. Each of these spots features a variety of accommodation options, exceptional cuisine, beautiful scenery, and lots of activities to enjoy.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is one of those places that every black couple must have on their bucket list. While there are several towns to choose from in Puerto Rico, I’d definitely recommend staying in San Juan

San Juan Puerto Rico

The first thing that captivated me about San Juan is the fact that the city is so vibrant. You’d think a series of buildings, each a different color, wouldn’t match up. They’ve done such a good job at making sure everything looks great – and at the same time, give you plenty of colors to appreciate.

The city is also full of culture, which is really great – especially for someone who likes to embrace and learn about different cultures.

There are lots of things to do (and see) in San Juan.

Now, if you’re someone for a history lesson, I’d recommend you get started with the Forts. You’ll find them at the San Juan National Historic Site. In fact, this city has so much history that you might feel a bit overwhelmed at some point – so be sure to grab a pamphlet or two while you’re browsing these historic sites. Just a tip – you need only one ticket (per person, of course) to see both of the Forts. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!

You should definitely explore the shopping districts of San Juan as well. And when night comes, the city doesn’t go to sleep, and your adventures can continue into the morning hours.

Trinidad and Tobago

Next up is the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It’s actually an island in the Caribbean. If you’ve ever wanted to go on an island adventure with your bae, then this is the perfect opportunity.

Now, the first thing you have to realize is that this country actually has two islands. These include Trinidad and Tobago. I’d recommend you explore Trinidad – it’s the largest of the two and also has a lot of sights to see.

The great thing about Trinidad is the fact that there are actually quite a few things that you can do for free. For example, take bae to the Queen’s Park Savannah. There’s parking, and entry is completely free – it’s a nature park with lots of greenery, large trees, and makes for the perfect area to unpack your picnic basket.

For those who want to really explore and appreciate the area, there are day trips, as well as half-day tours, that you can take advantage of. Trinidad has multiple water parks, hiking trails, and wildlife parks that you can visit. Something that I also really like about Trinidad is the fact that there are several places where you can grab classic street food – in fact, you can even sign up for a street food tour. That’s how famous Trinidad is for this kind of food.

St. Vincent

Another great spot in the Caribbean for black couples would definitely be Saint Vincent. It’s actually called Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. You’ll quickly notice that this is also an island – but that’s not really surprising when you’re looking at countries to visit throughout the Caribbean.

Saint Vincent is particularly known for its turquoise and clear waters. There are several beaches where you and bae can enjoy some time in the sun. Something that you simply cannot miss when you’re on this island is the coral reefs.

If you’re looking to spend time on the beaches, I’d recommend going between June and August. During these times, you get good temperatures, but you also skip the hottest months in Saint Vincent.

In terms of what the two of you can do, consider paying a visit to some of the historic sites, like the Firefly Estate Bequia and Fort Charlotte. The Botanical Gardens of Saint Vincent is also a sight that you do not want to miss. Of course, there are tourist tours available as well, which can help you to discover some of the hidden gems throughout the area.

Bocas del Toro

If you or bae likes surfing, then I’ve got the perfect Caribbean spot for you – Bocas del Toro. Even if neither of you is into surfing, this island can still give you an opportunity to learn more about Afro culture and discover wildlife species that you don’t see at home.

For the adventurous types, I’d recommend giving one of the hiking trails a try. There are tour guides available, or you and bae can decide to give it a go on your own. Some of these trails go deep into the mountains and straight to some of the most beautiful waterfalls the island has to offer.

There’s also a lot of diversity in terms of where you can stay. You could opt for something that’s nested in the forest for a more natural experience. Those who prefer the finer things in life also have many options to choose from, with several luxury hotels that take comfort seriously.

Conclusion

Whether you and bae want a relaxing holiday, spending the better hours of the day on the beach, or need a vacation that’s going to satisfy both of your desires for adventure, the Caribbean has it all. Picking the perfect spot in the Caribbean, however, can be quite a tough task. I’ve shared with you my favorite spots to help you get started – now you simply have to choose your destination and then start planning for that getaway with bae.
