Mozambique is one of those locations that have some of the best views and sightings in Africa. When me and bae decided to head over to Mozambique, we wanted something different than what we usually do when we travel. On our normal travels, as a black couple traveling together, we will book a hotel room. Sometimes, we would even go as far as to get a resort. This way, we can book at least a couple’s spa day. However, we wanted to dig a little into the more adventurous side, so we ended up booking a room at the Ponta Malongave Dive Camp in Mozambique.
In this review, I want to tell you more about what this place has to offer and why it’s such a great choice for adventurous black couples.
Interesting Selection of Rooms
One of the first things we noted while booking a room is the wide selection of rooms available at Ponta Malonga Dive Camp. This was quite interesting, and we ended up booking a room in one of their rondavels.
Apart from the rondavels, the campsite has a number of other accommodation options. There are chalets, log huts, and even dive camp tents. For those who prefer to bring their own tent, there are a couple of shaded campsites available as well.
The kitchen in the rondavel was fully equipped – we got cutlery, a fridge, and there was even a gas cooker. We went during the summer, so I really appreciated the fact that we had access to a ceiling fan.
Watersport Activities
As you can already tell, this is a camp site that has a large focus on diving. We haven’t had the opportunity to dive before, so this was something that we both looked forward to.Â
When we arrived, we found that the site had several water activities for guests to enjoy. For those who want to go diving, there are several ways that the company makes things more comfortable. The boats were equipped with several safety features, including Rubber Ducks. They also have staff who can accompany you on your dive, which is great for first-timers (like us!).
Sight-Seeing Options at the Ponta Malongane Dive Camp Site
When traveling, we always make sure we can go do some sight-seeing. That’s a great way to really explore a specific spot in the world, and with this being a campsite, it had easy access to several reefs.
Since we traveled when it was summer in Mozambique, we couldn’t see the famous Southern Right and Humpback Whales. However, we were still treated to sighs of Bottle Nose Dolphins and even Loggerhead turtles. While the Pinnacle was only for advanced divers, we were still able to see some of the sharks that locals talked about by simply sitting down and watching the waves.
Apart from this, we were also treated to some birdwatching while at the site.
Final Verdict
The Ponta Malongane Dive Camp might not be for everyone. However, if you and bae are both nature lovers and up for an adventure, it’s definitely worth visiting. There are lots to see and even stalls just outside the resort that give you access to a wide variety of local produce.
